I have dignity.

I am worthy.

I am enough.

Dignity. Self-respect. Positivity. A life of peace.

These are the fundamental rights of every human being, and they are at the center of everything we do in our outreach to Dallas' erotic massage parlors.

I myself know what happens when you do not have these things. I am a survivor of domestic violence, rape, and sexual assault. For years, I believed in my soul that I was not enough. I was inferior. I was nothing. My thoughts were dark, and I did not have peace in my life. I was on a collision course with domestic violence, a nightmare that I survived.

In counseling, I learned that reflecting on positive messages each day - and believing them - will change my life's trajectory. More than that, I learned the truth about myself: I am not inferior. I never was. I am not nothing - far from it. I am enough and always was. While I will never forget what happened, I am at peace with my future and at peace with myself. I love myself now and genuinely like who I am.

Having peaceful, positive messages flowing through my mind has changed my life. I want the women in Dallas' erotic massage parlors to have this same peace. They all have the right to know the truth about themselves: they are special. They are unique. They have talents and gifts. They have the right to wake up each day, look in the mirror, and love who they see.

At The Flashlight Project, we are determined to show every woman in the parlors that she has the right to believe in herself and to be at peace. We are determined to put positive messages in the hands of every woman and tell her, "This is for you. This is who you really are. It is your right to know it, it is your right to believe it, and it is your right to live it."
